So, what is mental health? We know that physical health means exercising, eating right, and getting enough sleep. Mental Health is sorta similar. Most people think out mind is in our head, but did you know that there's neural tissue in your gut, just above your naval too? Gives listening to your gut a whole new meaning.
Mental health is a lot like physical health. Only eating right can be replaced with watching your screen time and what you read. What do you feed your mind? Do you watch screens aimlessly? Do you mind what you watch?
Exercise for the mind would meditation. Yeah, I know those people can look all blissed out; but its acutally a work out watching your breath, coming back to the breath. But the biggest workout to meditation is learning to be kind and compassionate to yourself. Realizing that you're human and you are going to have and itch maybe at the tip of your nose but maybe it's in the middle of your back where you can't even reach on a good day. Forgiving yourself each time you leave the breath. Compassionately understanding, human bodies itch. Taking a sip of water realizing that as long as we're alive we need water with out self hatred.
Getting enough sleep is just as important for mental health health as it is for physical health. Only for mental health, we look at dreams and try to figure out what the collective unconscious is trying to tell you. What is left over from the day that's running circles in your dreams? When you woke up, were you kind to yourself? Did you trust yourself in the middle of the night that it'd all work out and go back to sleep? Or did you get back to work right away following a belief that you aren't doing your best every single day? As if we could less?
Try having a conversation with someone. Or, try talking with yourself about your mental health. When you listen to your thoughts or feel your emotions, can you forgive yourself for them? Can you love yourself living this human existence in this body and in this world that is imperfect?
